The monastery is located in the very center of the town of Sinj. The origins of the sacred space and monastery date back to the 14th century, but over the years they were continuously expanded and renovated. Between 1990 and 1992, a new building was designed and constructed, along with the restoration of the southern part of the monastery complex.

Immediately next to the church and bell tower, the traditional seminary building was restored and expanded. The new building serves as a transition between the monastery and the existing socialist-era residential development. The buildings enclose the block while allowing passage to the interior plaza.
