Youth Center Zadar [2023]

The Youth Centre is located on the site of the former Franka Lisica barracks in Zadar.

Together with the city library, it forms a complex of two separate buildings connected by a modern bridge. The existing structures of the former barracks have been reconstructed and repurposed. The inner courtyard of the U-block is covered, forming the main large hall inside. The ground floor of the renovated building houses the library, multimedia facilities, and a public performance hall.

The upper floor contains individual spaces for various users, associations, and performers. The visible intervention is the connecting bridge between the existing City Library and the Youth Centre. The existing building has been renovated in accordance with its original character, while the connecting bridge is designed as a contrasting modern volume of reinforced concrete.
